A family vacation to remember

        The steel cable wobbled as it suspended five people some fifty feet in the air. Its ends were attached to two oaks that swayed in the breeze; and, there was not just one of one of these tree top obstacles. There were myriads of them; An entire fleet of them. We made our way across, one by one. The risk, the angst, and the fear were coursing through the veins of each and every person that day. It made us feel alive, and that is exactly what we came for. We wanted to do something outside of our comfort zone; we wanted to live a little.

            Nothing can vindicate an act of injustice. I, myself, have witnessed many instances of injustice in this world. Traveling can be a drag for almost all people. However, getting through the airport can be especially tough with a Muslim last name. Traveling with a last name like Ali often results in a showcase of injustice.

    Any and every activity is enhanced when done with a friend. For me, even the most mundane of tasks are made better when accompanied. It doesn’t matter what my friend Alex and I do; we have fun doing it. On that Saturday night, we were faced with the challenge of making a ten year old girl’s birthday party enjoyable.
