The Power of I

How I want to be remembered
I want to be remembered. And no, not remember as the class clown or the school bully. I want to be remembered as a caring and empathetic person. I want to be remembered as the guy who made school manageable. I want to be remembered as the guy who would sit out so you could get a chance at going in the game. I want to be remembered not for a certain accomplishment, but for being a reputable citizen.
I believe that it doesn’t take much to make someone’s day. In one of my other blog posts, I showed you that all Cesar (a member of the Flik dining staff) has to say is a simple “hello” to make my day. Cesar has inspired me to do the same to others. I guess it is the power of kindness.
I want to be the guy that you walk away from a conversation feeling better than you previously were. Only very few people have dazzled me with this trait, and ever since, I have wanted to possess it. In particular, my camp counselor Kyle has had a huge influence on me. He has been a role model of mine for quite some time, and he possesses the aforementioned trait. I never realized how great it feels to talk to a genuine, down to earth person.
I have been talking a lot about this topic of kindness, but enough with just saying some stupid words, I’ve got to do them. I have to inspire someone; I have to give out compliment; I have to hold the door; I have to say hello; and if I want to be remembered, I have to do it now because it ain’t gonna do itself. The average human lifespan is seventy-nine years, and that is one short period of time.
I better get cookin’.
Oliver, I think you’ve done what you had to to gain a good reputation. I loved the quote “I want to be remembered not for a certain accomplishment, but for being a reputable citizen”. I feel that this quote wraps up the piece perfectly. I love how you state about your goals in a humble way — you hardly ever mention yourself. Great work.

Oliver in all honesty you are probably the kindest person I’ve ever met. and I’m sure a lot of people will leave school thinking that of you. I also thought it was really neat how you had two role models.

Even though we’re not the closest of friends, you’ve always done exactly to me what you aspire to - every time we talk, I end up feeling just a little bit better.

Oliver, this piece is truly you, you will be remembered as an incredible student, a great person, and kind to all, you have grown a reputation for being those things, and I can speak for all of us, we will remember you for those and more. Great piece.
