The Power of Chores

How my laziness in one moment lead to many chores later on.

Inspiration is a guest that does not willingly visit the lazy.

Do not avoid one wave of chores, because you can expect even more chores later on. I learned this lesson the hard way many times, yet I seem to forget sometimes. Last week, when I got on my parents nerves, I had many chores to come this weekend.

It was a Thursday afternoon, and I was sitting on the Xbox downstairs while my mom was moving stuff in and out of the unfinished side of my basement.

Every time she came down, she’d make a little comment, somewhere along the lines of “get off that stupid game and help me move this stuff”. I’d then tell her that I couldn’t pause my game because it was online, and after the tenth round of her coming down and moving stuff, she got mad at me and later that day, assigned me loads of chores for this weekend.

While this might not have been the most eventful or exciting experience, this experience still taught me a lesson. I  definitely won’t be pushing off any chores anytime soon. I’ve learned to motivate in the moment, and not push stuff off.

Avoiding one wave of chores will simply lead you to another much larger wave later on in life.

I totally agree with this theme. Every time I try to avoid chores my mom just gives me more. I feel that it is better just to get it done than avoid it, Great writing Jamie!

I think your mother lives my life :-) this is the same that is repeated 10 times a day in my house. Thanks for reminding me that it's almost normal.

Certainly a relatable theme! I wonder how long I’ll remember this lesson....

Great writing, I can completely agree and it happens to me on the daily, maybe doing chores at the right time is a good idea, nah.

You chose a great theme, Jamie. It almost reminds me of the Fitz Assignment Sheet when you procrastinate doing the assignments, they pile up, and then next thing you know you have to do all of the assignments on Sunday night. Very well written piece, Jamie.
