Tom Sawyer Literary Reflection

Tom Sawyer Literary Reflection

Everyone procrastinates when it comes to studying. I always procrastinate when there is a long assignment due in a long period of time, and my head ends up being served to the king. When there is a long assignment due in a week or two, I tend to get most of the work done near the end of the time when it’s due. Like Tom Sawyer, I procrastinate a lot. When I looked over how long the annotation piece was, it looked really long. I thought it would take me a long time to do, but it took me much shorter. For this long Midyear exam sheet, I tried my best to not procrastinate and get all the work done as soon as possible. And here I am, finishing up this sheet three nights before it’s due. As I started, I specifically searched for words I didn’t know and phrases that stood out to me. I finished that section in about 20 minutes. Then I went back through and looked for themes and quotes. I finished that section in about 15 minutes. It took me much shorter than I thought it would, and I was proud of what I had done. Even though it sometimes is hard, if you don’t procrastinate, you can the job done easier without a lot of stress on your hands. It helped me a lot in this case, and it will most likely help Tom Sawyer while he is painting the fence. Keep calm and eat the cow.

respect is for those who deserve it not for those who demand it

Respect will make you a better person. I have learned that being respectful in life will make people enjoy to be around you more often. When you are bored in the middle of class and you aren’t doing anything, being respectful is the least you can do. Our English class is not what I would call the most respectful class.

As our class entered the English classroom, we were all pretty hyper. We all sat down at the table, and Fitz started lecturing us on comma rules and other boring stuff.

Since we had a lot of energy, we interrupted Fitz multiple times, even though he said not to. He started to get frustrated at us, and even though we agreed to pay attention, we kept interrupting him. We eventually pushed him to his boiling point, and he told us we were on our own as he marched out the door. We all kept talking, but much quieter. We had realized that we hadn’t been paying attention to Fitz at all, and we were completely ignoring him, and that’s why he got mad. Since we were still talking slightly, when someone saw Fitz coming back into the room, and they exclaimed, “he’s coming!” When Fitz walked in the door, it turns out he had heard him saying this, and he said, “you guys really just said he’s coming,” and he walked back out. We all felt really bad and we realized that for the rest of the year we would need to be more respectful of our teachers and the time they take out of their day to sit down and get yelled at for assigning too long homework.

Respect is important because it makes you a better person in general. People like to be around you more when your respectful of them and the things they do. Especially when it comes to teachers, respect will make the teacher feel much better about them selves and they will be happy with your tone.

Respect is the key to a good friendship.
