An Experience With A Friend

An Experience With A Friend

Why having different personalities doesn’t mean you can’t have fun

When you choose your friends, don’t be short changed by choosing personality over character - W. Somerset Maugham

Experiences with friends are usually really fun. I have had many great experiences with friends throughout my lifetime. I used to have a house in Cape Cod, and we had a boat that we would ride to Martha’s Vineyard almost every weekend. I had just got back from a week of sleep away camp, and my friend Sean was coming up to the Cape, and we were planning to ride up to a beach in Martha’s Vineyard. I was really exited for Sean to experience what I have experienced for most of my time in Cape Cod.

It was a hot and sunny Friday afternoon, and I saw a car on the road in the far distance slowly getting bigger. As the car pulled up, Sean hopped out of the car. I told him that we were going to go on my families boat tomorrow, and go to Martha’s Vineyard. He and I were really excited, and we patiently awaited the next day. We woke up at about 8:00 am, and we started packing a bunch of items. Sunscreen, buckets, shovels, a tube, etc. We drove up to the dock, and started packing the things onto the boat, and before we even had the time to put on sunscreen, we were pulling out of the dock at 9:30 am. My sisters were there too, and it was pretty hard to ignore them (especially Joss) but we did our best at not getting involved with my sisters drama. It was a super windy day, which means the waves once we get out of the channel would be huge. Sean didn’t know that of course, so I told him. The front of the boat is always super bouncy on the waves, so Sean and I sat up there. Sean wasn’t expecting much, but when literally the rest of the people on the boat were to scared to even sit in the middle, Sean knew he was in for something much bigger. We had such a great time sitting on the front as the waves bounced us ten feet in the air every five seconds. We were exhausted once we slowed down and arrived at the beach, but it was one hell of a good time. We hung out on the beach for a couple hours, making sandcastles, catching minnows, swimming far off the shore, until my dad asked if we wanted to go tubing. Sean was a bit skeptical, but I told him it would be super fun. Since the beach was basically a circle with a lake in the middle (with a small entrance) there were no waves at all. This made us able to go over 40 miles per hour. As we were whipped across our own wake multiple times. The ride back from the beach was even wavier, which was again super fun. By the end of the day, we were super tired.

I thought back on the experience on the next day, and I realized that even though I might be more risk taking than Sean, we still had a great time.

Having a long and fun day with a friend is always really fun, so don’t waste even a second of it.

Like your other post, I really liked how you described your scene. The descriptions and everything fit together nicely, and some of the verbs that you used were quite good too.
