The Power of Hard Times

Hard times are important to growth as a person

Hard times come no matter who you are, we need to be able to overcome hard times and keep on going. 

“THUD” my body slammed on the snow, I slid down the hill and I was filled with frustration that I had crashed during my ski race. I made my way down the hill, I felt defeated by the course, but the fire inside me grew bigger and bigger.

               I feel very thankful, for my friends around me, for my family, for how fortunate I am to have the life I live, and also for the Fenn community.  Fenn is a great community full of nice people, my teachers are all very supportive and kind, and I’m very thankful for my friends at Fenn. I get many opportunities that I am very thankful for at Fenn. I love the sports there, and the arts are very fun, and I’m thankful that I get to be a part of such a great community. There are many things to be thankful for, and there are many things I am thankful for, but I cannot express them all right now.

Thanks for hooting and hollering in the halls 

Thanks for being a funny guy

Thanks for inviting me over almost every weekend

And for being a reliable friend

Thanks for making me a stronger writer

Even if it means I have to do push-ups

I wouldn’t have the knowledge I do

If it weren’t for the teaching 

I get from you

Thanks Fenn School

For being a great community

Helping me become a better person

And learn more about myself

Thanks for all my friends around me

For sharing so many laughs

For always cheering me up

And for having a good time

Thanks to my family

For feeding me everyday

For giving me the best education I can get

For helping me through the most frustrating math homework 

For going to work every day

            Winter can be pretty unpredictable, there can be days with blizzards and snow storms or there can be days with gentle falling snow. Christmas to me is one of the most wonderful times of the year. Although, that may be different for some parents who have to worry about what gifts to get for others and how they can get all their shopping done. For many kids, Christmas is a time when they get new toys and things to play with, and it is the best time of the year.

The Adventures Of Tom Sawyer

The Curiosity and Adventure of Tom Sawyer 

  Mrs. Harper gave a sobbing goodnight and turned to go. then with a mutual impulse the two bereaved women flung themselves into each other's arms and had a good, consoling cry, and then parted

The two sobbing women shared stories about their little boys, it was an emotional, long talk which brought back memories of the supposed dead boys. It was the night after their “deaths” in the room by the fireplace in Aunt Polly’s house. The parents were heartbroken about their boys and decided they would have a long talk and reflection on the boys lives, it was one of the most powerful and emotional parts in the book for me, even though the boys were still alive.

Remembering The Adventures Of Boyhood 

Life is either a great adventure or nothing

    Books can bring back memories of our past, and give us a sense of our future. In the book, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer,  By Mark Twain, the adventurous boyhood of Tom Sawyer brings back memories of mischief and adventure from the past. The author puts together stories and journeys from the life and perspective of  Tom Sawyer, a mischievous and outgoing boy. The stories set a scene that create nostalgia and bring back memories of childhood. “Nostalgia is a file that removes the rough edges from the good old days.” -Doug Larson
