Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all

My ninth grade experience has been a lot of fun so far, I enjoy the time I get to spend with my close friends at school. Although my year has been good, it could be better. There are some things that could be improved to make this year my best year at Fenn. The school spirit at Fenn has been burning out, we need to act soon to bring back the energetic, exciting community it used to be.

I think that since we are ninth graders now, we deserve a little more freedom. One way in which that could happen is to have more senior time. That could either be having it more often, or having it for longer. Most of the time my sports schedule interferes with senior time, so I have not even had it yet. I think senior time would be a great opportunity to hang out with friends and get to know people better who I am not good friends with. It is like our own separate ninth grade only recess. That sounds like a lot of fun and if we had more of it, then my ninth grade year might just be a little bit better.

Another idea that ties together with senior time in a way is to have more time are Mr. Boonisar’s house. The first and only time we have gone there was very fun. I remember ninth graders in the past years going over more often, it seemed especially fun to have pens and paper, unfortunately that is not a thing anymore. Going to play games at Mr. Boonisar’s house can be a great opportunity for our class to bond, which I think is important for a class of 23 students.

Another suggestion to make my ninth grade year better would be to have more availability to go to sports games. As a ninth grader who plays a sport, I rarely ever get to go to any Fenn sports games. I think it would be a great idea to change up the schedule slightly sometimes so that we can support our friends and classmates out on the sports field. Recently at Fenn, in my opinion, the hype for sports has not been the same as the past. I remember sports announcements being very exiting, and the sports games were more hyped up too. Now we do not get very big crowds at sports games, and the energy has gone down. If we can find a way to let the ninth graders and other grades get to sports games more often, the games would be more energized and exciting.

The ideal school year of a teenage boy might get out of hand, but improving the year to their liking can make the year a lot more fun.
