Walk with Solitude
A Peaceful and Scenic Adventure
I woke up to a bright, warm, and gorgeous day outside in Springfield, New Hampshire. I got out of bed, went downstairs, ate one of the best egg sandwiches I have every had. Today was off to a good start. I looked outside the sliding glass door as I ate my sandwich. I knew today was a perfect day to take a walk in the woods for my english class. There would be a lot to write about on a beautiful day like this, so I slipped on my sneakers and headed off on my journey.
I know it said to take a walk somewhere remote and isolated in the directions for this assignment, but I was so drawn to the scenery of the lake that I stuck by its side. I started by walking along the lake looking out at the view next to me. I looked at the shallow water near my feet, and then scanned by eyes up, down, and around the lake. It was such a good view.
As my walk progressed I began to enter a more wooded area, still near the lake, but in more trees. As I walked under the overhanging trees I came across the stream. There was a very small waterfall which flowed out of the lake and down the stream, who knew how far the stream went, but I am pretty sure it goes a long way. I got closer and closer to where the lake poured into the stream. There were two oldish planks of wood that stretched over the “waterfall” and I walked over them to get to the other side of the stream. I was hoping the planks were sturdy, for they did look old. They ended up being perfectly sturdy.
I walked down the edge of the stream in the woods, listening to the birds in the trees and all the noises of nature. Oh... and the leaf blower of the neighbors. As I neared the end of my walk I came across a blueberry bush that I remember picking the blueberries off of when I was younger. Unfortunately, the bushes have not been very successful at growing good blueberries for the past few years, but it was still a great sight to see. Eventually I turned back, headed towards the house, and soaked in one more dosage of the beautiful scenery that I am lucky enough to be around. I enjoyed my walk with solitude, it brought peace to my mind
