What We See
The Benefits of Manipulation
“Whoever controls the media, controls the mind”
― Jim Morrison
The best way to do work, is when it is done for you. I would most certainly have others get the job done if I don’t have to; although, you could see it as taking advantage of someone, I see it as taking advantage of your resources. Tom Sawyer used a sense of serpentine manipulation to have Tim desire to his own tedious chores. Tim was so deeply manipulated to the point where he offered Tom his apple core to do his work for him. Though, an apple core may not be worth much, it is important to realize that this change in perception was all part of Sawyer’s master plan. Going into this book, I expected usual Fitz Classic, the content is amazing, but the English, archaic. Though, this book was more or less a pleasant surprise for an academically deluged student. Still containing slivers of a rather broken dialect, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer’s plot was actually quite lucid and easily interpreted. I was able to relate to the enduring theme that I choose, and I can say quite certainly that I legitimately enjoyed that book. Being clever, placing all of your variables in their respective places, and executing differentiated this excerpt from Tom Sawyer from all the other classics we have read so far in this class. Capturing that of aspect of the story, and through the perspective of a kid made the book even better. Sometimes, in order to be sucked into a book, you need to be manipulated by a good author.
