        Socrates: And now, I said, let me show in a figure how far our nature is enlightened or unenlightened: --Behold! human beings living in a underground cave, which has a mouth open towards the light and reaching all along the cave; here they have been from their childhood, and have their legs and necks chained so that they cannot move, and can only see before them, being prevented by the chains from turning round their heads. Above and behind them a fire is blazing at a distance, and between the fire and the prisoners there is a raised way; and you will see, if you look, a low wall built along the way, like the screen which marionette players have in front of them, over which they show the puppets.

The Persuasive Power of Music

It’s Forcing Me but in a Nicer Way

        Music is the adhesive to hold the remains of one’s shattered mind. Strewn without a trace, music composes the very essence of my present being; a ray of light, to clear the fog. Due date after due date, test after test, accompanied by a resolute mindset, music remains an ally to my never ending skirmish with these formidable deadlines. Like a crack of a whip, my procrastination instincts are subdued, and enslaved by alluring sounds of the mellow bass slowly chanting, “DO YOUR WORK”, louder and louder till it’s the only thing occupying my mind. It was only hours left before the clock struck 12, and I was 100 words into my CHP essay. With no time to spare, and an excess to accomplish, I rose the volume till all I could hear were the sounds of my heavy and anxious breathing, and wrote.
