Journal entry #7

start of the school year writingA5839112-7319-4AEF-990A-778C6A3DC45C“Education is the key to unlocking the world, a passport to freedom.”

~Oprah Winfrey

So far this year I have had way to much homework. Some of my teachers are like yeah i will cut down the homework’s so you can enjoy your free time. But most of the time their lying because we will get the same amount of homework as the first time we asked to reduce the amount of homework. Sometimes I will be getting homework that tales me an hour and a half. Then add that on to the other homework’s and that’s a good amount of homework right there.

Also with soccer it is so hard to get my homework done each night. Because I have to stay at school until five every day then leave for soccer and after that I still have all of my homework to do. So most nights I don’t have to much free time which I love to have.

Another thing that annoys me about the 8th grade is the fact that art takes up our studying time. I think that art should not take up study hall because it is one of the most important parts of our day. Without study hall, at home we would have to do so much homework there that kids would probably start getting bad grades on because it is to much.

One thing that is good about the schedule though is how we have study hall and student life as a class period because I think that they are the two most important classes. Especially student life because you need to make the right decisions in life and it helps you with everything and not just one topic like other classes do.

One good thing about 8th grade though is that we get all of our work done at the start of the day and then after lunch its mainly fun. I like this because it’s nice to know that you have all of your work done before lunch so you can enjoy your lunch and not worry about another class period that I have to get through.

I think has been fun start to the year because we get a lot of homework and stress filled days. But one prop about being in the eight grade is the freedom that you get withheld your time at fenn. Overall it has been sometimes fun but too much stress involved in our days at fenn.

Values at Windsor Mountain

"Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much."

One value I clearly remember form the Windsor mountain trip was working together in different situations. I specifically remember this from one activity where our advisor had to do two different challenging tasks by working together and completing it. The first challenge was where we had to all get on a tarp and flip the tarp over as we were on it. At first we were all trying to do our own thing then we realized that we had to work as a group. So one of my classmates had great idea where we had to pull from the corner and keep going until one half was flipped then it was easy to just fold over the other half and it was finished. The second challenge was where we each had of a tube and a ping pong ball with a cup about 25 feet from us. We had to roll the ball on each of our tubes that we connected then go to then end of line and roll it through again until we got to the cup and dropped it in. We failed multiple times by going over the cup or coming to short because we were complaining, so we calmed and and had a designated person drop it in the cup and it worked.

A new beginning

“I learned all about life with a ball at my feet”

I am very excited for soccer after school because most practices are very fun and we get to scrimmage a lot. Also now that we made cuts a lot of kids are gone and we don’t have as many players so we get more playing time. It has been a while since we have practiced and I cant wait to get back to playing. My club soccer team tied this weekend to a team we should have beat in New York.
