When you lose, come back stronger

5, 4, 3, he shoots it, 2, will it go in? As will Hatten, will Gaynor, teddy and I walk to second period we talk about where we will meet up after class for recess. We have been in a basketball series since early in the year and the teams are me and Will Gaynor vs Teddy and Will Hatten. For some reason we take the games serious to the point where each team has actually made plays, so each game counts because we have been in a series and it is tied. Once second period ends we all meet in the gym early after class, so we have a long time to play. Each team has very different play styles because Will Gaynor and I are probably more skilled than them, but they are way taller than us, so it is really hard for us to get a rebound.
We start out with me covering Will H and Will G is covering teddy. After we check up will lobs it up to teddy in the paint as he drives in and makes the layup which is the usual play for him because he has height on both of us. We check it up again and Will does his signature shot which is a deep step back that usually doesn’t go in, but Teddy always gets the rebound and puts it back up. They are up two, but it is still the start of the recess, so we have time. Will throws up another shot and it has a awkward bounce, so we finally get a rebound. Then Will G sees me in the corner where I set up for my shot, its in the air and... swish. Now its two to two because we are playing that a three pointer is two points and a two pointer is one points. The next play will passes it to me on my cut, I fake the shot then kick it back out to will for the three, and its in. After a close back to back game there was about three minutes left in recess and it was tied 10-10, Will quickly flicks the ball over to me and I go for the shot, clank, but Will G gets the rebound and its time for me to redeem myself. I call for the ball again and I shoot again, but this time its nothing but net and now Will Gaynor and I in the lead with two minutes left. After many missed shots Teddy made a layup, so they were only down one with 30 second left to go and this is where Will Hatten thrives. In the past Will has hit a couple near impossible hame winners for his team, so Will G and I were ready to guard him tight.
We check up for the last time with 10 second left, and I here Mr Rude saying 10, 9, 8, will has the ball in his hands and he starts to make his move. 7, 6, 5, he runs to the side and starts his fade away for the shot, 3, 2, my defense is almost perfect, 1, the ball releases from his hand as he is fading away about 6 feet away from the three pint line. We both turn around and the able somehow makes its way into the net as will runs out of the gym with his hands in the air in disbelief like rest of us.
Now its time for third period, but Will G and I will be back to redeem ourselves.
