A Partially Fallen Tree

I went for a walk today, and it was one of the few times I’ve left the house in the past month. As I walked away from my street and into the woods, I felt more and more cut off from civilization, even though I was probably 500 yards away... But even so, there was no sign (apart from the path) of humanity ever setting for there. Even though I know for a fact that the entire forest was cut down in the 19th century, and grew back after the land was protected in the early 1900s. But despite all of this, I felt like I was no longer in humanity’s territory. Even though I haven’t enjoyed Walden one but so far, Thoreau secluding himself in the woods is certainly understandable, everyone likes leaving civilization for the wilderness every once and a while, but most just don’t go all out like he did.
