Football

The experience

Football is my sanctuary, it’s where I go to escape, it’s where I’m most happy - Odell Beckham Jr.

“Set, YUT.” Behemoths of men crash into each other in pure chaos. The ball is thrown in the air and people dive on top of each other to stop the ball from reaching the receiver. This is the brilliant sport of Football.

Football is unbelievably complex, yet simple (I guess that could apply to anything). I could shout out to some one who doesn’t play football and say “go line up near the numbers, and run around and try to catch the football.” And (I think) they would understand that, but if I were to say “go be the x in pistol right.” The would look at me like, “Uh...”. This part of why I love football and find it so interesting. You have to be in shape, you have to be able to take hits, you have to be able to understand concepts and know formations+plays, and you have to have good mechanics. I mostly love it because I can run around with the football and try to make everyone on the other team look like they haven’t played a down of football in their life. Another part of football is teaching you how to work as a team. It teaches you how to support each other, help each other improve, and even get to know people. It also taught me a life lesson. You never truly do something all by yourself.

The best feeling in football is when you beat the person you’re going up against. Either juking someone out, or planting a Linebacker, or stripping the football out of someone’s hands. Those are some of the best feelings in the game, and that is what I strive to do every time I step onto the field.

Wise men speak because they have something to say; fools speak  they have to say something-Plato

The campfire brought a comforting warmth to the entire class. I had looked like a light had exploded in the sky, and stars took their place. Everyone was taking a chance speaking about things that they had wanted to speak for years. The whole class was full of tears. All wanting to say something before this moment was over. I wanted to do the same thing, but public speaking is a little tough for me and talking about my thoughts and feelings publicly is almost out of the question. So after Ben Lisa started to talk about his grandfather passing away and I thought “why can’t I do the same thing.” So I spoke out.

Breaking a Bone

The day my summer ended

“Life has many ways of testing a persons will. Either by having nothing happening at all, or by having everything happening at once.”- Pualo Coelho

This summer was shaping up to be a great one, but on July 17 I decided to skim board. I was pleading to my mom to turn around. Going to Hyannis was taking over an hour from my Cape house. She just ignored me and continued driving to our friends house. We arrived to the house, little did I know it would be the last few minutes I would stand for weeks.
