The Importance of Family

What family means to me

Everyone has people in their life who’s important to them.

To me, it’s my family. They can get in my nerves sometimes, or all the time, but they truly care for me and they managed to change one of the worst beginnings to week in my recent memory, to giving me one of the best weekends of my life. For some inexplicable reason, this week started in a crapshoot of morale for me; I just didn’t feel like doing much, and I just felt a void in my life. Some people around me noticed this and talked to me about it, these people being Star, and my mom. In those discussions I realized that I shouldn’t really feel a void in my life because of the people around me. I began to notice that these people care for me, and aren’t just continually pushing me forward like an academic slave, but actually care for what I do and how I feel. These conversations with my parents, I think, led to me going to both the Bruins game and the new Avengers movie. Sometimes in life there are just moments you know you will never forget, this whole weekend was just that. The Bruins game was everything I hoped it could be and more. In the game, two of my favorite players were able to score very important goals; David Pasternak (2), and Brad Marchand (1). Plus, my new favorite goalie, Tuukka Rask had another outstanding performance in which my jaw was dropping to the floor in awe. The energy in the building was the thing I will remember the most about the game. I was yelling at the top of my lungs at every goal scored, spinning the yellow towel around my head with as much enthusiasm as I could have in me at 10:00, and high-fiving plenty of—probably drunk—strangers. Then, I went to see Avengers: Endgame with my dad. I will say this, it was the single best movie I think I have ever seen in my young life. The movie wraps everything together in a way that is epic in any way anything can be epic. It just has so much depth in it, and incredible story telling; I just can’t seem to grasp how good this movie is in just words. I would 100% recommend that you should go see it (if you haven’t done so already). But these whole experiences wouldn’t have happened if not for my family and their care for me. I know for sure that playoff Bruins tickets aren’t cheap, and my dad didn’t skip a beat to get them for me—and I don’t think he’s even that big of a hockey fan himself. I’m really grateful to be in the family I’m in, and I can’t wait to see what lies ahead for me.
