The Importance of Family

Emotional support from your loved ones
“Call it a clan, call it a network, call it a tribe, call it a family: Whatever you call it, whoever you are, you need one.” —Jane Howard
Often times family members are those who help you through struggles. I often lean on my family in times of need and when I am not getting as much support from others.
I had just lost a very good friend to me and the world seemed so cold. I understood, however, that my family was going through the exact same feelings as me and we were all there to pick each other up and everyone was looking out for each other. My family and I were all in a hotel in New York and we were all very sad but we all had each other and this became apparent to me in this moment. Every single one of us were all in a room and nobody really wanted to be there but we were all remembering my grandfather who had recently passed away and in that moment, I had never so sad at one time in my life. As I sat there crying, my grandma came over and gave me a minute long hug and I knew that everyone was there for everyone else and nobody was alone. It didn’t really matter that everyone was down and sad or that no one really wanted to be there because it was so gloomy but we all had each other and everyone was supporting the others in the room not even just our family. When it feels like you have lost everything and it feels like nothing can be happy or fun anymore, just know that you will always have family to help.
