In A group we sail in Lazers and 420s. 420s need 2 people in the boat to race it. The boat has two sails a jib and a mainsail, the skipper will drive and handle the mainsail. The crew does the jib and also plans ahead and does all the technical things such as calling right of way. Lazers are boat that you solo in. Lazers are quick and extremely fun. No one can tell you what to do in a Lazer you are your own captain. You can capsize you boat as much as you want to in a Lazer. Sailing in these boats is such an adventure.

At the yacht club I also was a Jr instructor for the younger groups of kid. This meant Mondays, Tuesdays, and FridaysI instruct. Tuesday is a special day in the afternoon I take younger kids out on Lazers and teach them how to sail Lazers. Then everyone of those morning I take the kids out on the equivalent to bathtubs on the water, N10s. They are fat clunky boat the I sail in with 3 5 year olds. If you could tell gos extremely well (*sarcastic*). I love these but they just don’t know when to shut up. Ever once and awhile I will let one of them drive, the boat will start spinning and the boom (the big metal bar that holds the sail horizontally) will start swinging ready to decapitate someone. So I avoid letting them drive.

Sailing is so exciting and fun. Sailing is the best sport ever, and if you haven’t tried it try it. I wish Fenn had a sailing team, well I can wait till next summer.
