A Battle in Your Mind
“The mind is the limit. As long as the mind can envision the fact that you can do something, you can do it, as long as you really believe 100 percent.”
~ Arnold Schwarzenegger
I stood nervously at the top of the run in on Attitash as a twelve year old freestyle skier and clearly envisioned myself landing a 360 perfectly.

Only a Story of a Fish

“Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.”
~ Henry David Thoreau
It was a boring Sunday that felt like it went on for years when My dad asked me if I wanted to go on a run with him around the pond. My automatic response was to say no, but I corrected myself and said, “yes” this time because of how boring my day had been.

X Games Big Air Aspen 2022
02/02/2022
X Games Aspen this past week was a wild event, especially the Big Air. There are three skiing X Games every winter. The first X Games is always hosted at Buttermilk Mountain in Aspen Colorado. Each of the three events are known to go crazy with the tricks that are landed, but X Games Aspen often has the biggest trick because it is considered the most legit. This means that the athletes want to throw down and do the most insane tricks they can.

One Day can Make the Difference
“You just gotta keep going and fighting for everything, and one day you'll get to where you want.”
~ Naomi Osaka
Most of the time during the exam I felt lost as though I was in a massive forest and did not know which way was out. The exam process started out tough for me because I was not sure how many different layers of assignments there were.

The Old Man and the Sea Literary Analysis
12/17/2021
Isolation forces you to find out what you value most. The Old Man And the Sea by Ernest Hemmingway demonstrates how isolation affected The Old Man while wrangling the giant fish. The Old Man has caught no fish for eighty-seven days and for a long time the old man had a young boy with him as an apprentice, but because of the old man’s luck the young boy’s parents made the boy leave and go to another boat. That young boy was the only constant contact the old man had with people while fishing. But when the boy left to go to another boat, a dark wave of isolationism overwhelmed the old man.

An easy text with tough themes
“Having a fishing rod in your hand is merely an excuse to explore out-of-sight depths and reveal mysteries that previously only existed in dreams.“
~ Fennel Hudson
Perseverance gets tough people through tough times. The Old Man and the Sea showed me the value of perseverance because I pushed through each page and found the deeper meaning of the words, while the old man was persevering in the fight against the fish. Reading The Old Man and the Sea taught me about perseverance in two ways. I knew that in order to truly comprehend the text I had to be dedicated to finding the deeper meaning. The more obvious way I learned about perseverance is the old man endured the fish pulling on him for four days, and how this relates to my life.
