Blues song

my horrible blues song

The reason I made this song was because of what I did one November morning. And what I did was grabbing a banjo and trying to play it. Although I’m not necessarily good I still really enjoy it. And as I kept playing, I got a bit better, and it then became a common thing to play everyday in advisory. The main reason I like it though, is that like other instruments it takes your minds off everything else. And thats what the banjo does to me, and thats why I wrote a blues song on it.

“Good music calms my soul, it takes me to another place, away from my problems”

-anonymous

A musician thats important to you has to speak to you. Their lyrics have to sink into you and make you feel like your in the song. Every sound and word has to bounce up and down your head like a voice inside of you. And for me this group of musicians is modest mouse. And mainly the song Float on. Everything about this song I love; the beat, the lyrics, the message, everything. My dad showed me this song one day and something just clicked in my head and everything was just right all of a sudden. Anything that was depressing, worrisome, or irritating in my mind just floated away. I felt different when listening to it. I felt like I was in a different world, a new life.

The reason I like this song is the mindset it puts you in, and the mood it generates. The lyrics aren’t complicated but powerful, and it makes you feel like a friend calming you down. The main theme of the song is “its gonna be alright.” And the beat is so great which makes it such a relaxing and soothing song. It’s not like many other songs in the way that you can sing it and explain it. You have to experience it yourself and listen to it for the song to truly be great.

Although this song is not very well known, it is meaningful, uplifting and will put you in a better frame of mind.

Practice makes progress

“It's not necessarily the amount of time you spend at practice that counts; it's what you put into the practice”

To improve at something you have to practice. And practicing piano is nothing different. Choosing to practice or not determines your skill and your motivation. If you don’t practice you will lose interest and never get better.

I’ve had a bumpy trip playing piano. I only play when i want to play, and because of that I didn’t get better. I didn’t like the pieces my teacher was giving me which wasn’t very motivating.  I was so annoyed practicing I wanted to quit. That was until I realized that i could learn pieces online. My strategy was to learn pieces that interested me and songs i actually listened to. I would also play the classical pieces my teacher gave me, but  my practicing would now be twice as long playing both the teacher’s pieces and the ones online. This solution got me back into the rhythm of piano and made me enjoy it much more. I no longer dreaded practicing i was instead excited, and eager to play and learn.

To be able to enjoy something and get good at it, you have to like doing it. This is the same thing with nearly everything, for instance jobs. If you hate your job, and you don’t want to do it, it will all fall down. I found out how to enjoy piano and became motivated to do something i love. Now I’m able to enjoy myself, I’m able to pursue something i love, and I’m able to find the importance of music.

The importance of music is incredible and to get better you have to be motivated and committed to learning.
