Journal Entry #7
My Start to 8th Grade
“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.” – Dr. Seuss
So far school is going great. The first day of school was the hardest, probably like most kids. For some reason, I always get nervous for a new school year, even if I know all of my teachers.
I love all of my classes, except for one teacher. My summary of this person is that they are a really nice person, but not a good teacher. They don’t have a grasp on the students in the class. They have been getting better through, I know they have been trying very hard to do better. I think either Fitz or Mr. Barker is my favorite teacher. Fitz is awesome because I think he understands us as humans. He always has great thoughts. Mr Barker is suck a nice teacher too. At first, one might think he is boring, they would be like 15% right, but he also cares. When someone in the class is having trouble, he stops and makes sure they get the concept. Mr. Cribb is the same as last year. Full of cleverness and the thousand mile stare. Mr ward is also great. Always getting the class involved. I personally think he has a lot on his plate though. Just a side note.
My social life with friends have also been good. Everything sounds so good you’ll think I’m lying. My friend group is the same as last year. Who knows, maybe il make a new close friend this year. I’ve been making friend with Wade. He seems pretty nice.
I’m really excited for Big Brother. I knew that when I came to Fenn in 4th grade, I was crazy nervous. Not knowing anyone, it was kinda hard to start off the year. When I was in 4th grade, I looked up to the big kids. I thought they were so cool. In reality, there is nothing that special about growing up. A little more responsibilities is all it is. What I found out is that every kid under around 25ish looks up to the elders. It is such a silly thing. I hope I am a great big brother. It would be nice if my little brother looked up to me like I did. My one concern is that I would be late too often. I am usually arrive at school around 8:15, so it would be hard every Thursday to arrive earlier. Just know as I’m writing this I realize how much of a first world problem this is.
I hope my school year will be great, just like the start.
I love your descriptions of the teachers you have. You depict them all as different, but in a good way. Great job, Eli
