The Endless Power of Friends
How working together can make the difference
“No one has every been poor by giving.”
-Anne Frank
Working together with a friend can be wonderful. I have had one of these experiences in my life. This experience was when me and a friend went to an arcade, and worked towards an common goal. This goal was a toy pool table prize for 10,000 tickets.
My friend and I were going to an arcade on a weekend in the summer. We were both bored out of our minds from nothing for weeks, so we decided to do a get together,We were both really excited. When we first walked into the arcade, we saw the prize we wanted. It was a big (toy) pool table. We decided that we would work together on obtaining it.
For most of our time, and balance, we just went around the arcade, looking for fun, and profitable machines. We really wanted this pool table. We had already cam up with a plan for sharing it. I would have it for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and he would get the other days. Once we were out of money, we went to the ticket counter, and to out disbelief, we were 2,000 tickets short. We were really disappointed. My friend came up with the great idea of looking around for spare coins. We actually found a couple, enough for two plays. We found a machine that had a potential jackpot of 5,000. It would be incredibly rare to get it. The machine was one were you dropped the ball, and tried to get it into the jackpot hole. We put out tokens in, and hoped for the best. I pressed the drop button, and then it happened. The ball got the jackpot! We went crazy. I never thought that would happen in a million years. We got our tickets, and got the pool table. We left the arcade as kings.
This experience was truly wonderful. Without my friend, and his great idea, there was no chance of getting our goal. This theme of working together is impactful to my everyday life. If no one worked together, human kind would most likely be extinct.
Without working together, my friend and I would not be playing mini pool to this day. What the wonder of working together can do.
Descriptive and through, this paragraph was very good. I could feel the excitement in the room when you hit the jackpot, and the descriptive imagery of how you left the arcade as kings was fresh and unique.

I really thought you wouldn’t get it once you said you were 2,000 tickets short. But with some good coin hunting skills and some insane luck, you and your friend were able to reach your goal. Cool story and good job.

This is a great piece of writing, Eli. I liked how you narrowed and then went broad in you head and heart. This is critical to any paragraph, as it shows the importance of the scenario in the bigger picture. Your story proves that with the help of others, and a little bit of faith, you can accomplish anything, and you perfectly described that throughout the entire piece. Well done.

I enjoyed the descriptive imaging detailed in this post. I can’t imagine how you guys felt after winning the jackpot! Hopefully that toy pool table still exists somewhere in this world.

Great job Eli! I can relate with your unifying theme, which describes how working with friends is great. I too have been in the position where my friends and I want to win a big prize at an arcade, and we all pooled our tickets into getting it. Great job!

Seems like in this paragraph you did achieve tour goals, but it is important that you stated that you did so through working together. When you are able to work together for a common goal one tends to gain some wisdom, and you displayed that in this essay. Great Job.
